A place for women to unload the mental load.
Hi, I’m Marissa - a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Perinatal Mental Health provider, and psychotherapist for women in Chicago and the Chicagoland suburbs. I am glad you are here.
I specialize in women’s mental health, providing compassionate and authentic therapy that works for you. Far too often, women carry significant stress and anxiety from pressure to do it all. This may show up as picturing the worst case scenario and feeling stuck in indecision, or having difficulty setting boundaries and prioritizing people pleasing over self-care.
In addition to providing therapy for anxiety, boundary setting, and values-based decision-making, my expertise also includes specific training and certification in perinatal mental health, encompassing pregnancy, postpartum, fertility, and loss. Though not talked about enough, these experiences in a woman’s life are often marked by anxiety, depression, rumination, intrusive thoughts, and grief, and the toll that this takes on self-worth is huge. Whether you are a pregnant mom, a new mom, a second or third time mom, or someone struggling to become a mom, you deserve a space that has been created for you. As I said above, I am so glad you are here.
Prioritizing women’s mental health is crucial for the individual (you!) and has critical impacts on those around, including those who are often so important to you (your spouse/partner, your children, your parents and siblings, and your friends).
By even wondering if therapy is right for you, you are showing yourself incredible compassion and support. Together, we can begin to unload the mental load so that your life - the roles you hold and the relationships you have (including the relationship with yourself) - holds the type of balance and meaning you deserve.
